Kinky Boots – The Musical

The hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots comes to Suzhou as part of its 2026 China tour.

Featuring music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Harvey Fierstein, and original direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell, Kinky Boots combines big musical numbers, comedy and plenty of spectacular footwear with a story about friendship, acceptance and having the courage to be yourself.

The Story
Charlie Price unexpectedly inherits his family's struggling shoe factory. With the business facing an uncertain future, a chance meeting with flamboyant performer Lola inspires an unconventional idea: forget traditional men's shoes and start making fabulous, high-heeled boots strong enough for men.
Their unlikely partnership might just save the factory — if they can overcome their differences along the way.

Inspired by a true story, Kinky Boots was first a British film before being transformed into the internationally successful stage musical.

From Broadway to Suzhou
Kinky Boots opened on Broadway in 2013 and became an international hit, with productions subsequently staged around the world.

The musical won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, while the West End production won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical.

The Suzhou performances form part of the musical's 2026 China tour.
