Suzhou Discovery Happy World(Xi Shan)

Long-term Suzhou residents may remember this place as Cowboy Club. The former Taihu Cowboy Country Club at Xiaoxiawan on Xishan Island has been extensively redeveloped as Suzhou Discovery Happy World, retaining some of its familiar activities while developing into a much broader family adventure and resort destination. The old Cowboy resort is still referenced in current 2026 material connected with the site.

Covering nearly 1,000 mu of lakeside and mountain scenery, the development is built around three main areas: a horse-themed park, water-themed park, and children's and sports park. Rather than relying on conventional amusement rides, much of the experience is about actually doing something outdoors.
Current activities include horse riding, horse-drawn carriage rides, outdoor karting and archery. There's also Gold Rush Town 淘金小镇, a Western-themed adventure playground covering more than 10,000 sqm, with climbing, exploration and role-play activities for children.

On the water
Its location on Taihu is a major part of the attraction. Current water activities include kayaking, dragon boating, bamboo rafting and pedal boats, allowing families to get out onto the water rather than simply enjoying the lake views. Water activities are weather-dependent.

Still expanding
The transformation is still underway. The park currently lists a petting-animal area, larger water park, horse-culture area and SU Hot Spring as coming soon. The water park and horse-culture experiences are expected to begin opening after the October National Day period, while the hot spring is currently scheduled for November 2026.
That makes this one worth checking again later in the year — there's considerably more planned than what visitors can experience today.
