Learn practical Mandarin with an experienced teacher who understands the language international residents actually need for everyday life in China.
Shelley is a native Mandarin speaker with many years of experience teaching Chinese to international residents, from complete beginners to more advanced learners. She speaks excellent English, making it easy to explain grammar, vocabulary and the differences between Chinese and English when needed.
Lessons are adapted to each student's level and goals, with a strong emphasis on conversational Chinese and language that can actually be used in everyday situations.

How the Classes Work
Shelley normally uses a Mandarin textbook as the basis for lessons, providing a clear structure and an easy way to build on what you've learned from one class to the next.
Lessons can also move away from the book when useful, particularly when there is something specific you want to learn or a real-life situation you need help with.
Classes can cover everyday conversation, pronunciation and tones, vocabulary and sentence structures, grammar, reading and characters, and practical Chinese for life and work in China.

¥100/hour for classes at Shelley's home near Ligongdi during Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00.
Lessons outside these hours, at weekends or at the student's home can also be arranged depending on availability, with prices agreed according to the circumstances.
Group Classes
Small group Mandarin classes can be arranged for friends, colleagues or others who would like to learn together.
Content, location and schedule can be adapted to the group, with pricing depending on the number of students and requirements.
Intensive Mandarin Classes
For students who want to make faster progress over a shorter period, Shelley can also arrange intensive Mandarin programmes.
This could mean several hours of lessons each day over a few weeks — for example, three hours a day for one month. The programme can be adapted around the student's starting level, goals and available time.
Package pricing is flexible depending on the number of hours, frequency and length of the course.
