The Last Coat of Pink
Pink Floyd Reimagined Through Jazz
Italian jazz trio The Last Coat of Pink comes to Suzhou as part of its China tour, presenting a very different take on the music of Pink Floyd.
Rather than recreating the original recordings, the trio strips the songs back to voice, piano and double bass, reinterpreting them through acoustic jazz and chamber music.
The programme draws on some of Pink Floyd’s best-known albums, including The Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Atom Heart Mother and Wish You Were Here. The set also includes “Incarceration of a Flower Child,” a song written by Roger Waters for Syd Barrett in 1968 but never recorded by Pink Floyd.
The trio features Kathya West on vocals, Alberto Dipace on piano and Danilo Gallo on double bass. They have performed the project at jazz festivals and venues across Italy in recent years.
The China tour also coincides with the release of The Last Coat of Pink AFTER, marking the 60th anniversary of the formation of Pink Floyd.
